Abstract

The article centres on the polemic that they supported Domingo F. Sarmiento (Las ciento y una) and Juan B. Alberdi (Cartas Quillotanas), in Chile, between ends of 1852 and beginning of 1853, on the responsibilities of the public writing and of the Argentine politics. The sarmientino text is approached by more thoroughness to analyze the construction of the enunciador and the panorama that develops on the press and the literature. Distinguishes itself the assembly of a comic opera that Sarmiento realizes as strategy of counter argumentation and it notes that the sanjuanino conceives to the journalism as the school of the writer who molds a literary own language. The debate advances, and while Alberdi seems to say that the press must subordinate his speech to that of the project of the government, Sarmiento defends the space of freedom and of own voice.
