Abstract

The article addresses the characteristics of the confrontation wich occurred in 1856 when Juan Francisco Mur in El Chicote unmasked Bartolomé Mitre as founder and principal editor of El Padre Cobos, a newspaper written entirely incognito to discredit his political opponents in the elections of 1857. The authoress gives an account of the modus operandi that took place and which resulted in the search and destruction of the Imprenta del Plata, an operation involving Mitre and Domingo F.
