Abstract

The question of positioning and the conditions of production of knowledge about the social in Latin America provides a fruitful opportunity to review a series of assumptions and oppositions which entailed our intellectual and cultural traditions. This article presents some theoretical and methodological ideas that, like notes of reading and of provisional conclusions of a work of investigation in the field of the intellectual history of the studies in communication and culture, offer as contribution to think about the question. Intends to review a series of oppositions more or less frequent in this field: those who opposed the local and transnational, academic autonomy and politicization, the task of intellectuals and experts, the men of ideas and the men political.
