Abstract

In academic spaces as well as in between organizations, social movements, and even in areas of the government, the problematic about popular communiation re-emerges with an interest and insistence that had lost in recent times. Without intending or proposing any historic continuity with what was known as "latin american model " of communication, the article reviews some key aspects to understand the meaning and scope of these practices in Latin America, recovering reflections and debates sometimes forgotten. Following this tour, under a renewed scenario that occurred in Argentina after the adoption of the new Law on Audiovisual Communication Services, the article proposes a set of clues to think about the actual articulations in between communication and the emancipatory political practices, reconsidering the quest of comunicación popular from a citizenship perspective.
