Identity and globalization. Elements to think the concept and its utilization in social sciences

Abstract

In this work its studied one of the most developed topics in social sciences of the last years, we are making reference to the problem of identites in the context of the globalization. Through the present article we will define and put in question the approximations that from different perspectives have taken this theme as an object of study. We share with other authors (Dubet, 1989; Brubaker y Co per, 201) the idea that identity appears as a reference in a huge cantiy of social studies with completely diferent topics. So, identity is the key concept to study the logics of colective action of the so caled new social movements as the gender, work, ethnic and others isues. Moreover, not only the different fields where the concept is applied but the polysemy which is used presents an analytic problem. The central objective of this work is, in a first instance, to make a critic revision of the several focus es of the identity concept, on a second place, to explore some definitions that in our criteria sem interesting to use the concept in a more precisely way.
