Abstract

The present work will describe a particular case (the one of the magazine Humor Registrado during the first presidential period of Menem) which can be considered a witness of an always present problem: the twist of political argumentation when has to give account of the antagonist legitimation in the context of a democratic system. In the case of Humor those arguments were tensed to the maximum by the political wonderings generated by the menemism: It was possible for the democracy to work in such a perverse way, permitting the reproduction in the power to the one who made sure of cheat the popular commandment? Furthermore it was possible that that was what the popular conmmandment reclaimed? In any case, the magazine´s analysts felt obligated to put in question, once and again the basic working of the democracy. And in that movement made two characteristics operations of the antimenemism: the moralization of the politic and the question, always surprissed, for the popular support that Menem had in his sucessive elections between 1989 and 1995. The ways that both characteristics are combined in Humor it's the specific objective of the present article. Keywords: Menem; political legitimation; Humor Registrado magazine
