Abstract

The interest of this work is to aboard the configuration process of the political and social identity of the Central of Argentinean Workers (CTA) in the stage linked to its appearance as a collective actor. With the objective of making some interpretative generalizations the phenomenon of conformation of social and political identity is described as a process that it’s not uniform or lineal, but it is in a constant develop starting from a series of continuities and breakings that can be observed by three dimensions of analysis: its historical tradition, its social and organizational integration and the question of the political articulation. This article will analyze specifically the elements that influence the configuration of the social and political identity of the CTA in the frame of an historical tradition, and it will suggest that the national-popular model, the peronism and the history of labor union are combined to build a series of social representations, that together with a particular political opportunity, favors the appearance and conformation of the studied collective actor.
