Abstract

The film and the story are two areas of knowledge that work according to their own rules and techniques, but share the field of description and interpretation that seeks every society in relation to facts and true social constructions through signs, symbols and representations. This theoretical review of film contributions to the discipline of history and the contribution that the audiovisual media in memory retrieval achieved through fiction and documentary material is a study to understand the cultural symbols in a society and its history.
