Abstract

Este trabajo se ocupa estudiar la familia santiagueña López de Velasco Sánchez Zambrano y tiene por objetivo desentrañar la relación familia-cabildo como posibilitadora de la realización de negocios y un marcado fortalecimiento patrimonial, que terminó por ubicar a sus integrantes en la escala socio-económica más alta de la sociedad criolla local. En este sentido se propone una lectura dialéctica que aglutine en una misma estructura narrativa los desempeños y cargos ocupados en el cabildo por tres de los hermanos y algunos cuñados entre 1726 y 1760 y su correspondencia con el desarrollo de actividades económico productivas y comerciales que, cuanto menos, encontraban en el cabildo un punto de apoyo para su materialización.
