Abstract

This article studies one of the current problems that families face, confronted with the emergence of the new challenges of modern life. It is a case study circumscribed to French Brittany, although the example studied may well be representative of others. The case is that of a nuclear family where each spouse works, but one of them - the male - does it in a place very distant from the family home. From this situation, the implication of this situation is explored with an approach that comes from sociology and gender studies at the individual work level, as well as in roles, family organization and shared desires.
