Abstract

The PhD thesis analyzes the development process of public media policies in Argentina, focusing on the study of a case: the privatization of open TV channels 11 and 13 in Buenos Aires City, a paradigmatic regulation case in the audiovisual field that has been crucial in configuration and structuring Argentine media system. The study focuses on established relationships and interactions among government officials, media outlets and unions, and on the mechanisms used by all of them in order to influence over the privatization process according to their own interests.
