Abstract

The aim of this paper is to show that the notions of independence and objectivity in journalism emerged from different causalities. The former denominated a new conception of the newspaper while the latter was a deontological principle that the independent press incorporated for precise socio-historical reasons, but, in a way, already had antecedents from the xixcentury. The core of work in our paper belongs to the Argentinean regional press, mainly focused in the
newspapers from Cordoba city between the years 1904 and 1926.
