One of the problems in the field of social representations in general and the mediatics in particular, are the difficulties to transform in an iconic image the belief systems of a society in the press as it tries showing practices governed by very different rationalities to information speech. It's interesting the way how is inscribed a speech with outlying logics to all of the types of rationalism in other which social validation depends, precisely, on the possibility of giving certain information, that is, "checked" by a debtor methodology of the science.
This work seeks showing a body of police reports where the crimes are linked on non-legitimated popular beliefs (Saint Death, umbanda religions, among others). Usually this type of production is accompanied by pictures that try to reference 'illustratively' some aspects of the above beliefs. These are policial cases hedges where the popular religious practices take on a leading role because these conceptions about the sacred point breaks, questions or alternative ways that undermine the rationalizing orientation of hegemony and become unspeakable for journalistic discourse.
The approach that is prioritized is the theory of social representations, theories of the border from the semiotic point of view, the tools of discourse analysis of socio-discursive die and semiotic reflections on production and construction of meaning image and the ways to link with the verbal dimension. To this, reflections on journalistic practice and theories of journalism along with the speech information explaining the operation of the 'media machine' are added.
