The Perception of Paralanguage in Political Discourse

The voice is considered as the resource par excellence in communication, and its use in political discourse constitutes an element that, although it is of great importance, has been the subject of a lesser degree of study compared to other areas of this subject. The objective of this study was to analyze the perception that young people between 16 and 18 years of age have of the elements of paralanguage, that is, those that accompany the voice in oral communication, by public officials and political candidates with the aim of to persuade the electorate. The research was carried out from a methodological approach of content analysis through focus groups.
