In this article we summarize some reflections and partial results from the development of the Extension Project «Process Memory and Forgetting in intermediate cities: stories of local photojournalism during the last civicmilitary dictatorship (1976-1983)», selected in the context of the 22nd Convocation «University, State and Territory» of the Secretariat of University Policies in December 2014. This is an unprecedented experience in the region of Buenos Aires center: the digitization of collections of newspapers published in the city of Olavarría in the period 1974-1984, the ordering of the material according to a protocol made ad hoc and later made available on the web for consultation by researchers, journalists, students and anyone whose interest is being referenced in any way in this space-time regional. We describe the rationale and justification for our project, some procedures and techniques, the dynamics of work, its implications and the results obtained so far, with the intention of promoting that the experience will be replicated in other socio-territorial areas, as it has the potential to contribute to the effective exercise of the right to information.
