Abstract

Situated in the paradigm of convergence culture, this article proposes an approach to the ways in which Journalism and Communication students of the School of Journalism and Social Communication (UNLP) consume content on social networks, generate their own news agenda and build their role as consumers; three phenomena that are part of their curricular training and affect their educational trajectories.

The work is part of the EVC-CIN Grant Research Project «Educational and digital trajectories at University: The educational experiences of communication students at the FPyCS-UNLP»(2021-2022) in conjunction with the Interuniversity Research Project «How journalism and communication students at Argentine universities are informed and how they study through digital devices» (2020-2022), promoted by the Faculty of Communication of the Austral University, where nine universities from all over Argentina, including the FPyCS-UNLP, participate.

From the latter, some specific axes are taken from the surveys resulting from a methodology that combines the qualitative perspective (semi-structured interviews) with tools from the quantitative paradigm (surveys and coding). In this particular article, we focus on the analysis of the interviews conducted with students at the Pte. Néstor Kirchner Campus during the second semester of 2020.
