Abstract

From the outbreak of the Covid 19 pandemic, the Spanish governing coalition made up of Partido Socialista Obrero Español (PSOE) and UNIDAS PODEMOS articulated and sustained a discourse influenced by the popular and populist Latin American governments of the first two decades of the 21st century, the member party of the governing coalition UNIDAS PODEMOS has founded, promoted and applied a series of narratives aimed at sustaining the importance of the leading role of the State in protecting the people, the more equitable redistribution of the public budget among all sectors of society and the expansion of Economic, Environmental, Cultural and Social Rights.

In this approach, we assess the construction of this narrative from different journalistic interviews carried out with the former Secretary General, former Vice President and university professor Pablo Iglesias, in the context of the pandemic crisis during the years 2020 to 2021 in light of the Complementary theoretical bibliography.
