Abstract

This work is part of a study on the use that university students make of social networks, and here the results are presented with respect to the students of the National University of La Plata. The study is carried out within the framework of the investigations carried out by the exploratory carried out by the Center for Research and Training in Public Opinion Studies (CICEOP in spanish) of Journalism and Social Communication University (UNLP in spanish). Thus, based on a sample of 172 students and the semiotic analysis of the statements and the enunciation, four types of discourse can be identified around the use of networks that conceptualize it as a specific type, a purpose, a field of activity or a set of actions. In addition, the semantic categories of interaction and productivity allow us to see how the use of social networks predominates in one-way flows over bidirectional ones, and of uses in leisure and sociability over those related to work and life. the studies.
