Abstract

This paper inquires about the political experience of students at the National University of La Plata, both in terms of university policy and national politics. Through a survey research, three dimensions are discussed: the beliefs, knowledge or information about political institutions; attitudes towards participation; and participatory practices, both in the university area and outside it. The existence of three gaps in the experience of political involvement is postulated: the first is between the personal political commitment and effective practices; the second between the intensity of participation and the occupation of governance spaces at the university; and the third between ascriptions of students when placed in the national political field and the direction of their vote when they ballot at the university level.
