Abstract

This paper analyzes the declarative lyrics propose of two of the songs of an Argentinean punk rock band known as Los Violadores, entitled «Why I’m here (bastards)» and «Inter Revolution», recorded in 1983 and 1985, respectively. These lyrics shows the problems and challenges of youth identity within the democratic transition and, therefore, in relation to the conceptualization of freedom. The present paper involves the study of t the themes that the lyrics attached: the search for identity –linked directly with the repressive situations generated by the last military dictatorship–, political correctness in a democratic context and differentiation with the history of Argentina, primarily the rock.
